APEC's BENTOCLINE GCL liner was deployed over an expansive 165,000 sqm to line the Central Wadi Lake within King Salman Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, ensuring reliable containment and environmental performance in extreme weather.
Project : CENTRAL WADI LAKE-KING SALMAN PARK RIYADH
Consultant : M/s. Parsons
Product : BENTOCLINE ®
The Central Wadi Lake—constructed amid Riyadh's extreme heat and low precipitation—required a robust lining solution capable of preventing water loss through seepage and withstanding harsh climatic conditions. Maintaining water integrity in this arid environment presented a significant engineering challenge.
APEC's BENTOCLINE geosynthetic clay liner was chosen for its proven ability to form a low-permeability hydraulic barrier. The sodium-bentonite core delivers self-healing capabilities when hydrated, effectively sealing punctures and defects. Engineered for durability, it resists extreme temperature variations, ultraviolet exposure, and long-term mechanical stress.
Central Wadi Lake is a key water feature within the development of King Salman Park—Riyadh's 13.4 sq km mega-park on the site of the former Riyadh Airbase. As a core ecological and recreational element, the lake required a high-performance liner to support sustainable urban water management in a harsh desert climate.
