At a signature roundabout in Liwa, Abu Dhabi, a landscaped sand dune spanning 27,800 sqm required engineered erosion control. APEC's EROGRID Geomat Composite was deployed to secure the sand against high winds and occasional rainfall.

Situated within a dynamic desert environment, the roundabout's dune aesthetic was exposed to intense wind-driven sand movement and episodic rainstorms. Without proper stabilization, the dune risked rapid erosion, loss of visual design, and frequent maintenance.
APEC's EROGRID Geomat Composite was delivered for its unique capability to stabilize sandy slopes under both wind and rain conditions. The 3-dimensional turf reinforcement geomat conforms to complex dune contours while the embedded geogrid improved the strength and anchors the Geomat on the substrate firmly.
Liwa Oasis is at the northern edge of the Empty Quarter desert and home to Moreeb dune. To visually integrate infrastructure with this landscape and manage the impact of wind, rain, and foot traffic, the dune was constructed within a roundabout. APEC's EROGRID system was installed across the full dune area (27,800 sqm).
